Annual committees

Annual committees

Each year, many of the Association’s activities are organised by our committees. These committees focus on planning and organising one or more specific activities within a single academic year. After the year concludes, a new group of members takes over to continue the tradition, often bringing fresh ideas and their own twist to the activities!

Almanac committee

The Almanac Committee often contains former Board members and active members of their year. Together, they gather all sorts of (very important) information, like the activities done in the year before, who drank the most Vipers, or what the most famous nickname was. Everything is put together in a book that represents the Board of that year and all their active members. Each year, a new one is made. To conclude, a drink is organised to sell the almanac and celebrate the previous year one last time.

Gala committee

Some years, a group of motivated students organises a gala. Everything from the theme, artists, location, decorations, photo arrangements and invitations is all thought out. The theme of the gala is revealed on a drink, sometimes dancing lessons are organised, and as final preparations, pink and blue paper is arranged for everyone who wants to invite someone to come with them. Overall, it is a lot of fun to organise a party with unlimited drinking in very fancy clothes.

Introduction committee

The Introduction committee is responsible for introducing the University to all new Mechanical Engineering students! In collaboration with the Central Introduction Committee of the TU/e, the IntroCie organises a bunch of activities that are part of the core program of the Intro Week. It is a committee with a lot of creativity and one of the biggest budgets, and setting up such a big event is a great experience!

During Parents' Day, the parents of all freshmen can come to campus to enjoy a "day in the life" of a Mechanical Engineering student. The committee organises a large variety of activities for during the day, all the way from a lecture to the drink!

ParTee

The ParTee is the committee that is mostly active at night. They organise about 3 parties a year, of which one is in collaboration with our friends from Protagoras. This committee also gives you the chance to strengthen your ties with our favourite bar: Sgt. Peppers! You reach out to them to plan the party and gather all the decorations to make the night unforgettable.

SimonCamp committee

The SimonCamp committee organises a weekend at the beginning of the year, to make our freshmen feel at home. With a group of about 50 new students, you will go away for a weekend to do fun things, and get to know each other. Well, that is the experience you create as part of this committee. And don’t forget to stay for a drink with the committee and the Board once everyone is asleep.

Sporting committee

Are you often present in SSC? Then this committee might be for you. In the past years, the SportCie has organised 1 activity a year, where they went ice skating or bouldering. Next to this, the committee organises the trip to the Batavierenrace, the biggest relay race of Europe! They arrange everything for this running weekend and make sure that everyone who joins has a fun time. Of course, this means you have to run the relay yourself too...

Symposium committee

A symposium is an event that is solely focused on helping you in your career choice. The committee that organises this event is responsible for arranging a location (the last one was in the Philips Stadium, which was very, very cool), and approaching companies to find the right ones at which your fellow students might find an internship or job. In this committee, you will make a lot of connections, and learn so much in communication, and about the companies you approach. And it looks good on your resume, of course.

This event is organised in collaboration with the Study Association for Mechanical Engineering from UTwente: W.S.G. Isaac Newton. Thus, the WET Symposium committee consists of both members from Eindhoven and Enschede. It is a very professional committee, setting up a massive event and having contact with many companies.

Women committee

The Women committee (a.k.a. the MeisCie) is the place where almost all the women of the Association end up. As we are not with a lot, we like to find each other in this committee, and basically just have a lot of fun. At the beginning of the year, the committee usually organises a lunch for only women. This lunch often contains a chocolate fountain. A bit further into the year, they organise a company visit, where women in the technical (ME) field to tell us about their journey, work experience and much more!
