Guustaaf Savenije, mechanical engineer with an impressive track record.
After graduating from the University of Twente, Guustaaf began his career in 1981 at the Philips NatLab. In 1988, he moved to Philips Assembleon (then Philips AAA; pick & place machines), and in 1995 continued his career at ASML, where he worked as project manager on the 5500/500 and later the groundbreaking Twinscan. In the final phase of his career, he joined VDL, first as CEO of VDL ETG, and later as a member of the group executive board.
Since last summer, Guustaaf has been focusing part-time on the Settels Savenije Group, where he and John Settels form the executive board.
Throughout his career, Guustaaf has wanted to stay close to the heart of technology. His motto is twofold: growth comes with pain, and true innovation is only possible through real teamwork.
In a 45-minute presentation, Guustaaf will take you through the challenges of both developing and launching the ASML Twinscan. How did he manage to lead a team of 650 developers at ASML to achieve a breakthrough in the semiconductor industry with Twinscan? What were the real challenges? How do you generate energy, synergy, and innovation in such a large-scale program? And how can you, as a mechanical engineer, make a difference in that setting?
In the second half of the event, Guustaaf will open the floor for discussion and answer your questions. Afterwards there is time for a drink. Be prepared—and be inspired.
